Rolex GMT 1675 (Price POA)
This beautiful 1675 from 1972 is fitted with the sought after Long-E dial. No other watch like the Rolex GMT-Master reference 1675 comes with a variety of dials and beautiful bezels across the years of production. They vary and change based on how they have aged over time. The first GMT was introduced in 1959 and remained in production until circa 1980. This GMT is an important part Rolex’s history and is one of the most collectibles from the golden era of vintage-sports watches.
This red back insert refers to the production period of this particular watch. From the 60’s to the early 70’s comes this distinctive red painted backside of the alu insert. These type of inserts are highly collective. The red paint on the backside had a specific purpose to protect the alu from corrosion and give better durability.
The bracelet fitted on this watch is the legendary C&I Rivet bracelet. C&I stands for “C+I” or “C & I” which is short for the company Costume Jewelry International that produced it for Rolex. C&I was a U.S.-based manufacturer that produced Rolex bracelets during the mid-20th century.
These bracelets were typically made for the American market to comply with U.S. import restrictions on Swiss-made gold during that time.
C&I Rolex bracelets are now considered vintage and collectible, especially when paired with period-appropriate Rolex watches.
The dial is a “Long E” MK2. Significant for this dial is that the Rolex text “LE” are closer together than the other letters. The Rolex crown is a little more stout with a flatter bottom like the Bart Simpson variation of the 5513. The nickname Long E for this dial comes from the middle bar of the "E" in "ROLEX", which is much longer than on other variations and is unique to this dial.
